Do You Need to Fill in a Gap in Your Smile?

Do You Need to Fill in a Gap in Your Smile? While some people do not think that it is any big deal to have one missing tooth, it can make a difference in the alignment of your jaws and teeth. That is because the teeth adjacent to the gap will reposition themselves to make up for the absence of the former tooth. When this happens, it can throw off the alignment of your teeth, which can lead to difficulties chewing, recurring headaches, and jaw pain. Therefore, you need to replace the missing tooth as soon as possible.

How Can I Replace the Missing Tooth?

To replace your missing tooth, you have one of several options, depending on your current circumstances and dental needs. If you don't have the money to spend on an implant right now, you might have a flipper tooth made. While this may be considered a temporary measure, it will keep your other teeth from shifting. The tooth can be made in a couple days, so it can be inserted easily. You can also wear it while you wait to have a bridge made, which can also fill in the space. Just make sure you have the space filled so you don't run into problems with your bite and future alignment. Also, a missing tooth can lead to gum shrinkage and bone loss. Therefore, downplaying this type of situation is not a good idea.
