Do You Need to Brush Removable Partial Dentures Differently?

A removable partial denture consists of replacement teeth that are attached to gum-colored or pink plastic bases. After a medical examination, we will design a partial denture for you, depending on your needs.
The partial denture may consist of clasps and metal framework which connect perfectly to your teeth. Alternatively, they might have connectors that are more natural-looking.
Do you need to clean your partial denture differently?
Just like regular dentures, partial dentures should be cleaned using a brush that is specifically designed for dentures. This is because these special brushes have bristles that are arranged in such a manner that they will perfectly fit the shape of your denture. Always avoid brushes that have hard bristles, since they will damage your denture.
Cleaning Partial Dentures
After fitting your dentures, we will recommend a suitable denture cleanser. When cleaning your partial denture, it's essential to stand next to a sink or towel in case you drop your denture. You should avoid using toothpaste when cleaning your denture because it's too harsh.
On top of that, you should also thoroughly rinse off any food particles. Begin by first moistening your denture brush before applying a denture cleaner that we will recommend. Brush the entire denture surface gently to avoid bending the attachment or damaging the plastic. On top of that, you should also refrain from using any mild dishwashing liquid or hand wash.
Other Important Tips When not stored correctly, your denture may lose its shape. During night time, you should place your denture in water or soaking solution. We will recommend a proper method for ensuring that your denture is in great shape at all times. Before placing your denture in your mouth, it's essential to ensure that you thoroughly rinse it.
