Do you take the time to clean your dentures each morning and each night? If not, then you may notice that your dentures give off an unpleasant aroma. This can lead to bad breath whenever you wear your dentures.
It is very important that you take the time to clean your dentures on a daily basis. They need it in order to keep your breath from getting bad, plus to keep your mouth healthy. Here are some tips to ensure you clean your dentures properly on a daily basis.
How Should You Clean Your Dentures?
First, you need to make sure you soak them whenever they are not in your mouth. This is part of the cleaning process. They should soak in a liquid that kills off bacteria and germs from your mouth, to help ensure your mouth stays as healthy as possible while your dentures are in.
Second, you need to brush off any debris on your dentures each morning and each night. This is much like brushing your original teeth. You will hold your dentures over a sink of water or a towel, and brush them with a toothpaste that is meant for dentures, and a toothbrush that is, too. Using the wrong products can damage your dentures, so make sure the items you use are all safe for denture wearers.
Finally, you need to make sure you are still brushing your mouth, as this also important. You may only have gums left, but they still need to be clean. Take a gentle toothbrush and good-quality toothpaste and brush your mouth, including the roof of your mouth, under your tongue, and around all gums.
If you are keeping up with this daily routine, it should keep your dentures fresh and smelling nice. For more information, come in and see us right away!
